Anti-Wrinkle Injections (using Azzalure, Botox)

Azzalure is a cosmetic name for Botox. It is an intensified protein, which is used to relax the muscle and prevent the ability for it to wrinkle. Previously Botox was used for medical purposes in particular for children suffering from muscular dystrophy as it relaxed the muscles, stopping them from twitching.

It is considered to be one of the lowest risk cosmetic treatments on the market. It lasts for three to four months and needs maintenance sessions thereafter, however the longer the treatment is kept up the less sessions will be required year on year.

There is huge media attention based around this treatment. We are an ageist society and more and more people want to fight of the signs of maturity and Botox is a simple way in which to minimise wrinkles.

As Botox relaxes the muscles, Azzalure is best used in the forehead and around the eyes where the muscles are more dynamic. Whilst it can be used to inject all over the face the best results for total wrinkle eradication are to combine dermal fillers and Azzalure together.

The forehead area can be divided into three separate treatment areas (glabella line in between the brows, crows feet around the eyes and brow lift) or the forehead can be treated as a whole.

Other areas that can be injected include the nose (technically called bunny lines), the under arm (Hyperhydrosis) this prevents sweating and the neck lines (technically platysmal bands)

Azzalure takes up to 14 days to kick in and therefore the wrinkle reduction is gradual. When injected by a good practitioner friends and family will notice you look fresher, well and bright. They should not be able to notice you have had something done just that you look refreshed. We are not looking to get a result that creates a flat, overstretched face (as seen on some celebrities). The risks are minimal and results are outstanding. Worst-case scenario any potential side effects are temporary with Azzalure. The side effects can include eye drooping and over relaxed muscles. However using an experienced injector extensively reduces these risks.

Minimising the risk

  • Use an experienced, qualified injector
  • Use Botox predominantly in the upper face
  • Tailor-made dosages to suit the individuals muscle dynamics
Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers can be used to add definition and plumpness to the lips and cheeks, as well as reducing lines and folds around the lips, nose, mouth and across the forehead. The effects can last from 6-9 months. At the Solent Medi Spa, we use Juvéderm® and Emervel families of dermal fillers which are all derived from a naturally occurring substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). HA occurs naturally in your skin, attracting moisture to your skin’s cells and maintaining hydration. Approximately 87% of your skin’s upper layers is hyaluronic acid. As we age, HA levels decrease, leaving skin less elastic and prone to lines and wrinkles.

Dermal fillers are applied to the skin using a fine needle, replacing your skin’s natural HA and forming a cushion that fills out wrinkles and furrows, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Sculptra is often described as the liquid face lift.

It stimulates your own fibroblasts to grow collagen which replaces the lost facial volume caused through ageing, sun damage and weight loss.

Following the anti-wrinkle treatment, the change is gradual and very subtle, with results lasting 2-3 years and post initial course of treatment, one vial of Sculptra each year is usually all that is required for long term maintenance.

Elionce Thread Lifting Treatment

Elionce is a premium thread lift treatment which ises polydioxanone (PDO) to create a natural, fresher and younger looking face. Often referred to as the 20 minute face lift due to it’s simplicity and minimal downtime.

  • Premium biodegradable threads
  • No surgical face lifting
  • Safe and simple procedure with minimal downtime
  • Immediate and long lasting results

A local anaesthetic is administered to ensure the patient is comfortable. The procedure involves the insertion of the thread under the skin via a very fine needle or a specifically designed cannula.

The threads work in three ways:

  1. Thread anchor points hold the tissue and provide lifting when tensioned.
  2. Mechanical stimulation of the cells in the skin following thread insertion into the dermis or subcutaneous tissue.
  3. Via the biomedical properties of the PDO thread which as the thread dissolves promote the generation of collagen to maintain the lifting effect and improve skin tone.
Enlighten Teeth Whitening

Enlighten is the only system in the world to guarantee that the teeth will get to a “VITA shade B1″ which is the whitest shade on a regular dentist shade guide.

The teeth look really naturally white after the treatment – unlike treatment where porcelain is used like veneers or crowns. The breakthrough is that the guarantee applies to every single patient regardless of starting colour, age, lifestyle or dietary habits.

The procedure is simple and takes 2 weeks for 95% of patients. The dentist takes a special super accurate impression of your teeth and sends this to Enlighten’s dedicated lab where new “super sealed” bleaching trays are made (these trays were originally invented by a Los Angeles dentist in his own practice).

The patient wears the trays for 14 nights and then visits the dentist on the 15th day for a 40 minute in surgery session.

Amazingly the concentration of the gel the dentist uses in the Enlighten system is a quarter the concentration of most other whitening systems. This is possible due to the increase in permeability achieved by using the super sealed trays.

Results last indefinitely as long as you wear the trays 6 nights a year after your teeth whitening treatment. There aren’t even any special dietary instructions so you can keep drinking coffee and red wine
